Introduction

Welcome back to my crochet Vlog! In this update, I'll be sharing my progress on the crochet goals I set for the upcoming market in October. If you've been following my journey, you know that I've been working on a series of patterns each month to build up my stock for the market. I'll be showcasing the patterns I've completed so far, sharing my thoughts on each one, and asking for your feedback. So, let's dive in and see how far I've come!

Crochet Goals for Market

Setting goals is an essential part of achieving success, and I wanted to ensure I had enough inventory for the October market. My plan was to create one pattern per month, gradually building a collection of handmade items to sell. This strategy would not only help me stay organized but also allow me to explore different patterns and techniques. Let's take a closer look at the patterns I've been working on.

The Chicken Pattern

A cute and quirky animal pattern, the chicken was the first official pattern I tackled for the market. I made five chickens in total, one of which my son promptly claimed as his own. These adorable creatures made for a fun and challenging project. I experimented with different color combinations and was pleasantly surprised by how cute they turned out. Their squishy heads, funny noses, and awkward feet added a delightful touch. However, keeping track of inventory has been a struggle, and I could use some advice on effective inventory management.

The Leggy Frog Pattern

In search of diversity, I decided to explore patterns beyond animals and stumbled upon the leggy frog pattern. These grumpy yet lovable creatures quickly became a favorite of mine to make. With their long legs and fiddly fingers, they were a joy to create. I crafted a mommy and a daddy frog and couldn't resist making the adorable baby frogs as well. The pattern was relatively easy to follow, and I even experimented with filling them with beads for added weight. However, the weight made the frogs a bit cumbersome, and I wouldn't repeat the bead-filling process in the future.

The Axolotl Pattern

For a unique and quirky addition to my collection, I decided to try my hand at crocheting an axolotl. These cute amphibians with their funny gills and smiling faces were a challenge to make. Unfortunately, my axolotl turned out much larger than anticipated due to using a different type of yarn and a larger hook. Nevertheless, I found the end result to be charming and true to the picture. Now, I'm contemplating whether I should make more axolotls or move on to my next pattern.

Making Tacos the Octopus

Introducing Tacos, the extra leggy octopus! This whimsical creature was a delight to crochet, and I had fun experimenting with different color combinations. Tacos turned out to be a larger project, requiring extra stuffing and time to assemble. However, the end result was worth it, as Tacos became a playful companion that could be wrapped around one's shoulders. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Tacos and whether I should continue making more of these charming octopuses.

Other Patterns Explored

In addition to my market goals, I also took the opportunity to explore other patterns during the month. One pattern that caught my attention was the tree sprites. These adorable little beings brought a touch of magic to my crochet collection. I'm excited to finish them and see how they turn out. I'm constantly on the lookout for new patterns and suggestions, so please share your favorites in the comments!

Inventory Management Tips

As a novice in inventory management, I could use some guidance on how to effectively keep track of my creations. Do you use software, apps, spreadsheets, or good old pen and paper to manage your inventory and sales? I would appreciate any tips or advice on how to improve my inventory tracking process.

Choosing Yarn and Hook Sizes

One of the challenges I encountered was choosing the right yarn and hook size for each pattern. Sometimes, the results were unexpected due to variations in yarn thickness and hook size. I learned that even with chunky yarn, using a small hook can create a different outcome. I'd love to hear about your experiences and any tips you have for achieving the desired size and texture in your crochet projects.

Conclusion

Thank you for joining me on this crochet journey as I prepare for the October market. It has been a wonderful experience exploring different patterns and techniques. I hope you enjoyed seeing the progress I've made so far. Your feedback and support mean the world to me. Please let me know your thoughts, share your favorite patterns, and provide any advice or tips that can help me improve my crochet skills and inventory management. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting creations in the next video!
