Big Daddy's Cups: A New Business Venture
As I sit down and sip on my sweet tea, I can't help but marvel at the journey that led us here. Welcome back to Llama Mama, Kayla's Yarn Tube! I'm Kayla, and joining me today is Big Daddy. We've had quite a productive day, ticking off those household chores one by one. Big Daddy might have overdone it a bit, but we remain hopeful that he'll feel better tomorrow.
Now, let's talk about something exciting that's been keeping us busy lately. Big Daddy has ventured into a new business - making cups! We have opened an Etsy shop where we showcase Big Daddy's unique creations. It all started with a cup that reads, "Me and My Dolls Talk Crap About You." Curious about how this cup came to be? Let me share the story with you.
The Story Behind the "Me and My Dolls Talk Crap About You" Cup
During one of our trips to town, I had taken a doll along with me to capture some photos for my Instagram. We happened to stop by Dakota's bakery, and after leaving there, the idea struck me to take some pictures of my doll inside the bakery. I quickly called Dakota, who was working at the bakery, and asked if it would be alright. He gave us his enthusiastic approval, assuring us that they would talk about me once we left. Little did he know that his casual remark would inspire a cup design.
After taking the pictures, we left the bakery and later sent Dakota a text teasingly saying, "Me and My Dolls Are Talking Crap About You." That's when Big Daddy decided to surprise me with a cup bearing the same phrase. We loved it so much that we decided to make a few more and put them up for sale on our Etsy shop.
The Etsy Shop: Unique Cups for Different Hobbies
Speaking of our Etsy shop, we currently have four different cups available. The "Me and My Dolls Talk Crap About You" cup is perfect for doll collectors who also enjoy watching my videos. We also have cups designed specifically for crochet enthusiasts, loom knitters, and general knitters. Each cup celebrates the joy of these hobbies and the beautiful day we have ahead to indulge in them.
To cater to the high demand, we have listed 25 cups of each design. I know that the crochet cups tend to sell out quickly, so I wanted to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to get their hands on them. You can find the link to our Etsy shop in the description box of this video, so make sure to check it out if any of these cups pique your interest.
Trick-or-Treaters and Halloween Preparations
With Halloween just around the corner, we've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little trick-or-treaters. We had initially prepared their treat bags, thinking they would come by on Saturday. However, they had a Fall Festival at their church and ended up attending that instead. No worries though, their mom informed us that they'll come trick-or-treating on Tuesday. We got them reusable shopping bags and filled them to the brim with goodies. Big Daddy couldn't help but comment on how heavy the bags were, but we're sure the kids will be thrilled with their treats.
Big Daddy's Surgery and Recovery
Looking ahead, we have a big event coming up - Big Daddy's surgery. We've been receiving daily reminders from the hospital, which serves as a constant reminder of what's to come. While there are different approaches to pain management post-surgery, we're not entirely sure what to expect. Some people have experienced delays in receiving pain medication through the pump, while others have received small doses initially. We'll find out soon enough how Big Daddy's recovery will go, but we're hoping for the best.
Granny Squares Project for November
In the midst of all the preparations and upcoming events, I'm starting a new project in November. Though it's not a crochet-along, I invite anyone interested to join in. I'll be sharing a video on the first of November, where I'll showcase the colors I'm using for my granny squares. The project itself allows for flexibility, meaning you can use any colors or any type of granny square pattern you prefer. It's a low-pressure endeavor designed to bring joy and relaxation to all participants.
Different Approaches to Pain Management
As we gear up for Big Daddy's surgery, we've read various accounts of how doctors approach pain management post-surgery. Some individuals have shared experiences where the pump is inserted but pain medication isn't administered until the next appointment. Others receive small doses of medication right away, gradually increasing them. While we're unsure of our doctor's method, we remain optimistic that the pain will be manageable during the recovery period. It's essential to keep warm and take care of the incision area to aid in the healing process.
Branching Out: Crochet Tumblers and Future Plans
Big Daddy has his sights set on expanding his cup-making repertoire. Alongside the existing cups, he's considering venturing into crochet tumblers and exploring new possibilities. We've been discussing potential designs and techniques to incorporate into these future creations. It's an exciting prospect that keeps us motivated and gives Big Daddy something to look forward to.
