Introduction

Welcome back to my channel! In this tutorial, I will show you how to make adorable fruit slice bag charms. This project was inspired by one of my subscribers on YouTube, so a big thank you to them for the idea. These bag charms are perfect as cute gifts, and the best part is they are quick and simple to make. You only need one pattern to create multiple fruits in different colors. So, if you're looking for a last-minute gift idea, this project is perfect for you. Let's get started!

Supplies Needed

Before we dive into the tutorial, let's gather all the supplies we'll need:

  • Five ply milk cotton yarn (or any kind of worsted weight yarn)
  • 3.5 millimeter crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Step 1: Starting the Front Side

To begin, we'll start with white yarn for the front side. Make a slip knot or use the magic ring technique. Next, chain two (or one if using the magic ring). In the first chain, make six single crochet stitches. Finally, change the color to orange, as we will be making an orange fruit.

Step 2: Continuing the Rounds

For the second round, we will make increases and repeats for a total of six times. This will give us 12 single crochet stitches in the end. Remember to always put a stitch marker in the first single crochet and continue working in rounds without any slip stitches. It's important to maintain a consistent tension and increase in every round to keep the circle flat.

Step 3: Adding the Details

Next, we'll move on to the third round, where we will alternate one single crochet and one increase (repeat six times). This will give us 18 single crochet stitches. The pattern continues with one single crochet, one increase, and another single crochet for the fourth round (repeat six times). This will yield 24 single crochet stitches. By changing the position or order of these stitches, we achieve a nice circular shape instead of a hexagon.

Step 4: Making the Back Side

Using the same pattern, we will create the back side of the bag charm. The only difference is that instead of making the strap with five chains, we will make it with 50 chains for a longer strap. Follow the same instructions for each round as we did for the front side.

Step 5: Sewing the Sides Together

Now that we have both the front and back sides, it's time to sew them together. Place the wrong sides facing each other and start sewing from the sixth single crochet. Continue sewing until you reach the other side of the bag charm.

Additional Fruit Options

Feel free to experiment with different fruits using the same pattern. You can make a variety of slice bag charms such as lemon, watermelon, and kiwi. Simply change the colors of the yarn to match the fruit you want to create.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You've successfully created a cute fruit slice bag charm. These make great gifts or accessories for your own bag.
