Crochet Cardigan Sponsored by Hobie

Hello and welcome to my crochet channel! Today, I am excited to share with you all the details of a crochet cardigan I recently made, which was sponsored by Hobie. I'll cover everything from the yarn sponsorship and giveaway to the pattern details, modifications, and my overall experience working on this project. So grab a cup of French vanilla coffee and let's get started!

Yarn Sponsorship and Giveaway

The yarn for this cardigan was generously sponsored by Hobie, and I couldn't be more grateful. They provided me with two skeins of their special edition yarn in the colorway "zero two." This colorway features a beautiful gray shade that adds a touch of elegance to the cardigan. If you're interested in getting the same yarn, make sure to check out Hobie's website, as they offer a wide range of yarn options for various crochet projects.

As part of this collaboration, Hobie is also hosting a giveaway on their website. All you have to do is participate in the crochet along with Charm Grammy Crochet and create a Christmas sweater using Hobie yarn. It's a fantastic opportunity to showcase your crochet skills and potentially win some amazing prizes.

Pattern Details and Modifications

The pattern I used for this cardigan is called the Horizon Cardigan, and it is available for free on Hobie's website. It is classified as a DK weight pattern, so I highly recommend using DK weight yarn to achieve the desired sizing and proportions. However, feel free to experiment with different yarns, keeping in mind that it may affect the final size and fit of the cardigan.

When following the pattern, I made a few modifications to ensure the cardigan suited my preferences. Firstly, I added an extra row to the upper portion of the cardigan to ensure a better fit around the chest area. This small adjustment created a unique visual effect, which I personally find quite appealing.

Additionally, instead of using the recommended eight buttons, I decided to use only six. This was purely a personal choice, and I believe it worked perfectly for the style I was aiming for. Remember, crochet is all about personalization and making something that reflects your own taste and style.

Button and Crochet Hook Size

For the buttons, I chose 18 millimeter buttons, which were part of an eight-pack. Using six buttons instead of the recommended eight added a touch of simplicity to the overall design. However, you can choose any button size and quantity that suits your preference and the sizing of your cardigan.

As for the crochet hook, I used an H 5.0 millimeter hook. Thankfully, I did not have to use the smaller hooks, which can sometimes be frustrating to work with. However, keep in mind that crochet hook sizes may vary depending on your tension and yarn choice, so feel free to adjust accordingly.

Yarn Details and Color

The yarn I used, as mentioned earlier, is from Hobie's special edition collection. The colorway "zero two" features a stunning gray shade that complements the cardigan perfectly. The yarn is a DK weight with 601 yards in each skein, making it suitable for various crochet projects. If you're unable to find this exact color, don't worry, as Hobie offers a wide range of other beautiful color options to choose from.

Working on the Cardigan

Now that we've covered the sponsorship, pattern details, and modifications, let's dive into my experience working on this cardigan. I followed the pattern closely, except for a few adjustments to achieve the desired fit and style.

To begin with, I started the sleeve decreases after only three rows, as opposed to the pattern's recommendation. This allowed me to customize the sleeve length and accommodate my longer arms. Additionally, I added four extra rows to the cuff to ensure a more comfortable and flattering fit around my wrists.

Overall, I found the pattern to be true to size, and I highly recommend following the provided measurements and instructions for a well-fitted cardigan. However, as with any crochet project, personal preferences may vary, so don't hesitate to make adjustments based on your own measurements and desired fit.

The cardigan turned out to be even better than I expected. I initially had concerns about the color and design, but once I tried it on, I fell in love with it. The cardigan has a cozy and warm feel, making it perfect for the winter season. The softness of the yarn adds an extra level of comfort, making me want to wear it multiple times.

I must admit, the extra row I added to the upper portion of the cardigan created a unique and flattering drape, which I find highly appealing. It adds a playful touch to the overall design and makes the cardigan stand out. Of course, personal taste may vary, and some people may prefer to stick strictly to the pattern instructions.

The cardigan's fit, for me, was pretty spot on. It could even have been slightly smaller, but considering the winter season and the possibility of layering garments underneath, I appreciate the current size. However, keep in mind that everyone's body shape and size may differ, so make sure to adjust accordingly based on your measurements.

Other Crochet Projects

In addition to this cardigan project, I have a few other crochet projects in mind that I want to embark on. One of them includes making amigurumi, specifically a frog. I find joy in creating these adorable creatures, and they make for great gifts or decorations.

Furthermore, I have some exciting giveaways happening on my Instagram page, which you surely don't want to miss. One of them is sponsored by Hobie, where you can win some fabulous prizes. Make sure to check out the details and participate for a chance to win.

I also have another upcoming project in collaboration with Hobie. It's a DIY project where I will show you how to create a quick and fun item using the same yarn I used for the cardigan. Stay tuned for the video, as there will be another giveaway attached to it. I can't wait to share this project with you!

Mary Maxim Mystery Bag

Recently, I received a mystery bag from Mary Maxim, and I can't wait to share it with you. However, before I do, I want to contact the company and get all the details about the bag. It's always good to have a clear understanding of what is included in such mystery bags and how they can enhance your crochet experience. Rest assured, I will be sharing an unboxing update on this exciting mystery bag very soon, so keep an eye out for that video!

Progress on Blankets

As for my ongoing crochet projects, I'm pleased to inform you that I'm almost finished with my son-in-law's blanket. It has been a labor of love, and I'm thrilled to see it nearing completion. Soon, I'll be able to present it to him and witness his joy.

In addition to that, I'm also starting another blanket project for my dear friend's child, Nox. I'll be using the Hobie yarn I received to create a cozy taxi blanket for him. I can't wait to see how it turns out and to bring comfort and warmth to Nox with this special handmade gift.

Daily Inspiration: 365 Days of Prayer

Before we conclude, I wanted to share with you a daily inspiration that has touched my heart. In my videos, I include a segment called "365 Days of Prayer," where I reflect on a passage and share it with you. Today's reflection encourages us to stay alert, hold firmly to our beliefs, and be courageous. It serves as a reminder of God's faithfulness and how His strength empowers us to keep pushing forward.

I am incredibly grateful for the positive feedback and impact this segment has had on many of you. It brings me joy to know that these moments of inspiration and reflection resonate with your hearts.

Remember, God's love and goodness are constant in our lives. He holds us up when we are weak, and He guides us when we feel lost. Trust in His faithfulness, and let His light shine through you.
