Introduction

Hi everyone, I'm Maggie Weldon from Maggie's Crochet. I'm excited to introduce to you a set of seven videos featuring crochet projects for dolls. In this article, I will be focusing on the American Girl doll free patterns that can be found in these videos. These patterns are perfect for beginners and can be made using worsted weight yarn. So, let's dive in and explore the delightful projects we have in store for you!

American Girl Doll Free Patterns

Hat

One of the patterns showcased in the videos is a charming hat that can be made using worsted weight yarn. It's a great project for beginners and allows you to get creative with colors. The pattern starts with a double crochet circle on top and continues straight down, resulting in an adorable hat that would make a perfect gift for someone.

Ruffle Scarf

Using the sashay mini technique, our crochet expert demonstrates how to create an adorable ruffle scarf for the American Girl doll. By pulling up loops down the middle of the strand, you can achieve a unique texture that adds a fun touch to your doll's outfit.

Filet Popcorn Blanket

Next on our list is a little filet popcorn blanket. This versatile pattern can be used for Barbie dolls or even a little baby doll. The intricate design adds an elegant touch to your doll's bed or playtime accessories.

Fashion Doll Wardrobe Patterns

In addition to the American Girl doll patterns, we would also like to share some clothing patterns for Barbie dolls. These patterns are taken from the fashion doll wardrobe book published by Maggie's Crochet a few years ago. We will provide you with the patterns for a purse, skirt, and halter top on a blog post, making it easier for you to create a complete wardrobe for your Barbie doll.

Hair Styling for Dolls

One of the most interesting aspects of doll play is styling their hair. In our videos, we will show you how to curl Barbie's hair using a unique technique. By using perm rods and dipping them in boiling water, you can achieve beautiful curls that can be styled as desired. This project is not only fun for kids but also a great way to bond with your grandkids.

Fun Projects to Do with Grandkids

Want to engage your grandkids in creative activities? Crocheting with them can be a great way to spend quality time together. In our videos, we share our personal experiences of teaching kids how to crochet during a little church sleepover. The joy and enthusiasm they exhibit while creating something with their own hands is truly gratifying.

Halter Top Pattern for Barbie Dolls

Hey everybody, it's Christina from Maggie's Crochet, and today I'm going to show you how to make a halter top for a Barbie doll or a doll of similar size. This pattern uses two different colors of yarn, a size F5 hook, and a yarn needle for weaving in ends. Let's get started!

To begin, take the color you want for the main part of the top. I'm using light blue. Chain 50 and then finish it off. This will give you a long chain of 50 stitches. Now, take the same color yarn and your hook, and count in 15 chain stitches. Skip those first 15 stitches and start in the next one. Join with a single crochet, inserting your hook into the stitch, grabbing a loop, and pulling it through. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook. This counts as the first single crochet, and it will join your work in a circular manner.

Next, single crochet in the next 19 chains, including the first one. This will give you a total of 20 single crochets. Chain 1, turn, and start with a single crochet decrease in the first two stitches. Then, single crochet across until you have two stitches remaining. Do another single crochet decrease in these last two stitches. Repeat this pattern for rows 3 to 9, decreasing at the beginning and end of each row. By the end of row 9, you should have only four single crochets left.

To finish off the halter top, chain 15. This chain will form the tie that goes around the back of your doll's neck. Weave in the end to secure it. For the other side, join your yarn in the first stitch of the last row. Make a slip knot on your hook, insert it into the stitch, grab a loop, and pull it through. Chain 15, cut the yarn, and pull it through the loop to finish it off. Weave in the ends.

You can leave the halter top as it is, or you can add a lovely little flower in the center. Take your contrasting color, like dark blue, and chain five. Slip stitch in the fifth chain from the hook to create a little ring. Chain four and slip stitch in the same chain. Repeat this sequence four more times to make a total of five petals. Leave a long enough tail to sew the flower in the middle of the halter top.

That's it! You've completed a beautiful halter top for your Barbie doll. Feel free to experiment with different colors and get creative with your designs.
