Introduction
Hello everyone, it's Anya here and I'm back with another video for Ophelia Talks. Today, I want to share with you a new tutorial on how to make a beautiful necklace. I couldn't resist designing another necklace as I had so much fun making different ones for all the dresses I'll be wearing this summer. There's a particular blue dress I have and I wanted a lovely necklace to go with it. So, I came up with this new design that is a little bit different from the ones we made in the last video. Let's get started!
Materials Needed
To make this necklace, you will need the following materials:
- King Cole Cotton Soft yarn (or any cotton, acrylic, or mercerized cotton yarn in your desired color)
- Crochet hook (size 3.5 mm)
- Scissors
- Sharp darning needle
Creating a Slip Knot
Before we start crocheting, we need to create a slip knot. Insert your crochet hook and make a loop with the yarn. Pull the end of the yarn through the loop, creating a slip knot.
Making the Chains
Now, we are going to make a slight amount of chains so that the necklace can sit comfortably behind our neck. Start by chaining approximately 20 stitches. This length can vary depending on your preference. It doesn't have to be exact, as we will be adding more chains later.
Creating the Circle
Once you have made the initial chain, we'll create a small circle by making double crochets. Chain 3 to serve as the height for the double crochets. Then, chain 1 for the adherence of the circle. Next, chain 2 to prepare for creating the circle. To form the circle, skip 2 chains and make a double crochet in the third chain. This will create a tiny circle.
Adding Double Crochets
Now, chain 2 again for the height of the double crochets and make double crochets on the side of the mini circle. The number of double crochets will depend on the thickness of your yarn. Typically, you will need around 7-9 double crochets per side. This creates a nice, even shape for the discs.
Building the Discs
Continuing from the previous step, make double crochets on the other side of the circle. Again, make the same number of double crochets as on the first side to maintain symmetry. Once you reach the end, slip stitch into the third chain of the initial chain to secure the discs in place.
Attaching the Chain
To attach the chain, chain 7 and skip 2 chains. Make a double crochet in the third chain and chain 2. Proceed to make double crochets into the little circle, creating another set of discs. Repeat the process of chaining, creating double crochets, and attaching the chain until you have the desired number of discs for your necklace.
Finishing Touches
Once you have completed the discs, make an equal number of chains to the initial chain at the beginning of the necklace. This will ensure that the necklace hangs evenly. Connect the chain to the first disc using a slip stitch. Cut off the excess yarn and secure the ends. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
Conclusion
Congratulations on making your own beautiful necklace! This new design is perfect for adding a statement piece to your outfit. I hope you enjoyed following this tutorial and had as much fun making it as I did. Thank you for watching, and I'll see you in the next video. Bye!
