An Update on Elijah's Candle Making

Hey friends, welcome back to Llama Mama Kayla's YouTube channel. In this video, I wanted to share a quick update on what's been going on in my life lately. As you can see, I'm in a bit of a weird angle today because my son, Elijah, has taken over the table with his candle-making project. He's been working hard to build up inventory for an upcoming art crawl event. The table is covered in candles of various colors and scents, which he has been busy creating late into the night. It's quite impressive to see his dedication and passion for his craft.

A Busy Weekend with Outdoor Photography

Last weekend was quite eventful for me. I didn't get much crocheting done, unfortunately. I managed to complete just two squares for a project I'm working on and added some color to my spider blanket. Instead, I was occupied with outdoor photography for an upcoming video. The weather was perfect, and I wanted to capture some beautiful shots. However, by the end of the day, I was completely worn out and desperately needed a shower.

Dealing with Hand Pain

That night, I was planning to do some crochet, but I wasn't feeling well. I felt exhausted and decided to rest. However, my plans were disrupted when I woke up in the early hours of the morning with excruciating pain in my right hand. The intense discomfort forced me out of bed, and I've been enduring it ever since. As I sit here recording this video, the pain is still present, and the chilly weather isn't helping either.

Progress on the Spider Blanket

Despite the challenges, I'd like to shift the focus to something positive – my spider blanket. It's been a delight to work on, and I'm pleased with how it's coming along. The centerpiece is captivating, and the colors are turning out beautifully. Recently, I incorporated a bright yellow yarn from Red Heart, which adds a vibrant touch to the overall design. Additionally, I had a random skein of gray yarn, which I integrated into the blanket, giving it a dynamic and scrappy appearance. I'm loving the look and the progress I've made so far.

Joining the Spider Blanket Project

Don't worry if you're just a viewer and not a content creator – you can still join in. It's never too late to start working on your own spider blanket and share your progress with us.

Making Squares with Scrap Yarn

Apart from working on the spider blanket, I also ventured into making squares using leftover scrap yarn. It's a wonderful way to utilize those tiny balls of yarn that someone kindly sent me. The colors I used include a vibrant green and a bright yellow, which create a colorful rainbow effect within the squares. Each square represents a different shade, adding character and uniqueness to the final piece.

A Creative Idea for the Squares

While pondering over what to do with the squares, an idea struck me. I remembered making a cat-themed pillow for my son in the past, which turned out to be a hit. Inspired by that experience, I thought of creating a pillowcase using these rainbow squares. It would be a fun and colorful project that I could enjoy year-round. I may even add some appliques to the pillowcase, something different from cats this time.

Considering a Rainbow Pillowcase

I thoroughly enjoy the creative process involved in crochet, and this rainbow pillowcase idea has definitely piqued my interest. I'll measure the squares and determine how many I'll need to make a front side for the pillowcase. It's exciting to envision the final product and the joy it will bring. I'm leaning towards a non-holiday theme so I can showcase the pillowcase throughout the year. I believe it would make a lovely addition to my home decor.

Wrapping Up and Signing Off

With that said, I should wrap up this video. I'm not feeling my best due to the persistent hand pain, and rest is long overdue. I'll quickly upload this video without any fancy editing or extras, so I can finally find relief with a warm heating pad. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I appreciate your continued support. Remember to reach out if you're working on a blanket or would like to share your progress. I love hearing from you all. Until the next time, take care, and lots of love!
