Introduction

Welcome back to my channel! In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a quick and easy crochet crop top. This beginner-friendly project only requires a weight three yarn and a three millimeter crochet hook. If you need sizing information, be sure to visit my blog, crochetwithcarrie.com. Let's get started!

Materials Needed

Before we begin, gather the following materials:

  • Weight three yarn (Fluffy Day from Hobbii recommended)
  • Three millimeter crochet hook
  • Yarn needle

Making the Front of the Top

To start, we will create the front of the top. Follow these steps:

  1. Starting the Front: Begin by making a chain of 37.
  2. Double Crocheting: Double crochet into the third chain from the hook and continue double crocheting into every chain until reaching the second last chain.
  3. Adding Stitch Markers: Make five double crochets into the last stitch and place a stitch marker into the third double crochet of that group.

Working Rows

Now, we will work on the rows. Follow these steps:

  1. Continuing the Rows: Chain two and turn your work. Double crochet into the next stitch and continue placing one double crochet into every stitch until reaching the stitch marker. When you reach the stitch marker, place five double crochets into that stitch. Place the stitch marker into the third double crochet.
  2. Completing Eight Rows: Repeat the previous step until you have a total of eight rows.

Working on the Sides

Next, let's work on the sides of the top. Here's what to do:

  1. Making the Second Piece: Create a second piece using the same instructions.
  2. Seam the Two Pieces Together: Sit the two pieces side by side and use a yarn needle to seam them together.

Stitching the Front Parts Together

Flip the two front parts over and stitch them together. This step will determine the depth of your neckline.

Creating the Back Seam

Moving on to the back of the top, we will create a back seam. Follow these steps:

  1. Single Crocheting the Bottom Edge: Attach your yarn and single crochet all the way around the bottom edge.
  2. Adding a Chain: Chain 11 and single crochet into the second chain from the hook. Single crochet into each of the next nine chains.
  3. Slipping Stitches: Make a slip stitch into each of the next two single crochet. Turn your work.
  4. Working into the Back Loop: Skip over the two slip stitches and work into the back loop of the next 10 single crochet. Chain one and turn your work. Make 10 single crochet, working into the back loop only.
  5. Repeating the Steps: Repeat the previous step until you reach the end of row 16. Fasten off.

Making the Straps

Now, let's create the straps. Follow these steps:

  1. Attaching the Yarn: Attach your yarn at the stitch marker and make a chain of about 30 or 40, depending on the desired length of the straps.
  2. Attaching the Straps to the Back: Flip the top over towards the back and connect the strap to the back with slip stitches. Make two slip stitches and single crochet into each of the chains along the strap.
  3. Completing the Second Strap: Repeat the process for the second strap, attaching it to the stitch marker on the other side.

Final Steps

We're almost done! Just a few more steps:

  1. Weaving in Ends: Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
  2. Finishing the Second Strap: Complete the second strap using the same techniques.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have successfully completed your crochet crop top. Feel free to experiment with different yarns and colors to create a unique piece. For a written pattern, visit my blog at crochetwithcarrie.com. Enjoy wearing your new creation!
