My First Asan Project
Hello my YouTube subscribers and fellow YouTubers! I am excited to share my latest project with you all. In this video, I will be showcasing my first Asan project that I completed from the "Best Knit Baby Asan Book." I will provide a detailed overview of the project, including the materials I used, the pattern I followed, and my overall experience. So, let's dive right in and take a look at this adorable Asan!
Yarn and Materials Used
For this project, I decided to use a yarn called "Brunette Baby Sport Yarn" in the color white. I found it to be a great choice as it gave the Asan a soft and delicate look. To work on this project, I used a size 10 circular knitting needle, which allowed me to easily handle the yarn and create precise stitches. Please refer to the description box of the video for more specific details on the materials.
Working on the Asan
The pattern instructed me to work on the Asan until it reached a length of 44 inches. However, I decided to make it slightly smaller and stopped at 29 and 1/2 inches. I then finished it off with seven garter stitches. In the video, I will share a close-up view of the Asan, as the lighting may not do justice to its intricate details. Additionally, I made a few mistakes along the way, but they are not very noticeable unless you closely examine the project.
Review of the Yarn
I must say, I really enjoyed working with the Brunette Baby Sport Yarn. It was my first time using this type of yarn for a baby project, as I usually opt for Lion Brand Pound of Love or Red Heart Super Saver. The yarn has a surprisingly soft texture and provides a great drape to the Asan. Although it took a little time to get used to knitting with it, I was pleased with the final outcome.
Washing and Care Instructions
After completing the Asan, I decided to wash it using a mild, baby-friendly detergent. I washed it in warm water on a gentle cycle and then dried it on low heat. I didn't want to risk damaging the yarn by drying it on high heat. After washing, the Asan turned out even more beautiful and soft. I highly recommend washing this yarn before using it for any baby projects.
Pattern and Difficulty Level
The pattern for this Asan is incredibly simple and beginner-friendly. If you are familiar with yarn overs and knitting three stitches together, then you can easily handle this project. The pattern consists of 12 rows, but you only repeat four of those rows, making it a quick and straightforward knit. Even if you make a few mistakes along the way, they are hardly noticeable.
Gender-Neutral Design
One of the best things about this Asan pattern is its gender-neutral design. It can be used as a gift for either a baby boy or a baby girl. The delicate and intricate look of the finished Asan adds a touch of elegance to any nursery. It's a perfect gift idea for expecting parents who are waiting to find out the gender of their baby.
