How to Make a Crochet Rosary

Crocheting is a popular hobby that allows people to create beautiful and intricate designs using yarn and a hook. In today's tutorial, I will be teaching you how to make a crochet rosary. This project was requested by one of my relatives, and it holds extra meaning given the current events in the Philippines.

Before we begin, let's gather the materials we will need for this project. You will need polyester fibers (eight ply), a 2.5-millimeter crochet hook, scissors, and a long piece of string. Make sure the yarn you choose is number three in weight, and feel free to adjust the size of the hook based on your preference.

To start, create a slip knot and chain 12 stitches. This will form the body of the cross. Once you have completed the initial 12 stitches, skip three stitches and make a half double crochet in each stitch until the end of the chain. After that, chain two and skip the first stitch. Slip stitch to the next two stitches to reinforce the cross.

Next, we will work on creating the beads of the rosary. Chain five stitches and then half double crochet in the next two stitches. Slip stitch to the main body of the cross. Repeat this process until you reach the other side of the cross. Once you reach the end, repeat the same process to create a parallel side, ensuring it aligns with the opposite side.

Now it's time to make the bubbles that represent the beads. Chain three (or four, depending on your preference) and then create a bubble stitch by leaving the last loop on the hook and continuing the process. Repeat this step several times, leaving spaces between the bubbles to represent the spaces between the beads.

If you wish to make a traditional rosary with five mysteries, you can add more bubbles and chains. However, for this tutorial, we will be making a 10-bead rosary. Once you have completed the bubbles and chains, slip stitch to the main body of the triangle and close the rosary with a slip stitch.

To finish the rosary, use a needle to weave in the excess strings, reinforcing the wobbly ends of the cross and the triangle. This will give the rosary more stability. Cut off the ends neatly and admire your finished creation.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and learned something new. Remember, in times of crisis, it's important to find ways to help others. Consider donating to outreach efforts and continue to send prayers to the families of the victims. Stay tuned for the upcoming crochet top tutorial, which I promise will be worth the wait. Keep learning and making a positive impact in any way you can.
