Taking Down My Yankee Twists: Mission Accomplished

Introduction

Hey guys! It's Candy here with another video, and today's video is somewhat bittersweet because it's take down day for my Yankee twists. If you've been following my YouTube channel, you would have seen me install and update you guys on this hair. But now, it's time to say goodbye. In this video, I'll show you how to easily remove the twists and preserve the hair for future use.

The Decision to Take Down the Yankee Twists

I've been wearing these twists for five weeks, and they've been amazing. The hair looks perfect, and I have no complaints. However, my natural hair is growing too fast, and it's becoming impossible to keep the twists in for any longer. So, sadly, it's time to take them down.

A Shoutout to a Helpful Viewer

Before we get into the removal process, I want to give a quick shoutout to one of my viewers, Tina Collier. She left a comment on one of my videos suggesting an easier technique for removing the twists. Tina, thank you so much for your suggestion!

An Easier Technique for Removing the Twists

Tina mentioned that instead of removing the twists one by one, I can simply find the braid underneath and undo it. This intrigued me, and I immediately understood what she meant. So, today, I'll be showing you exactly how I do that.

Preserving the Hair for Future Use

Since the hair itself still looks amazing and I don't want it to go to waste, my plan is to wash it with a cider vinegar rinse, condition it, and set it aside for future use. This way, I can install it again another time when I want to rock the Yankee twists once more.

The Process of Removing the Twists

To remove the twists, all we need is a rat tail comb. I start by finding the tail of the braid and then undoing the braid. Once I start undoing the braid, the twists that were attached to it automatically release themselves. This makes the removal process much easier and faster.

Techniques for Unbraiding and Releasing the Twists

When removing the twists, it's important to find the tail of each braid and separate the hair on the braid from the rest. By doing this, the twists easily come off as you continue to undo the braid. It's a quick and efficient method that saves a lot of time and effort.

The Benefits of the New Technique

Compared to removing the twists one by one, this new technique has several advantages. It minimizes manipulation and friction on the braided hair, preventing it from becoming frizzy. Plus, it significantly reduces the time it takes to remove the twists, making the whole process more enjoyable.

Tedious Unbraiding versus Quick and Easy Removal

If I were to remove the twists individually, it would be a much more tedious and time-consuming task. Every twist would require finding the loop and pulling it through, which can lead to more frizz and tangles. With the new technique, I can breeze through the removal process without any hassle.

The Joy of Completing the Removal Process

After undoing half of my head, I can confidently say that this technique has saved me a significant amount of time. Removing all the twists would have taken around three hours, but with this method, I estimate that it will only take around an hour and a half. I'm thrilled to have discovered this time-saving hack!

Conclusion

And there you have it! The Yankee twists are successfully taken down, thanks to the new technique suggested by Tina. I'm grateful for the support and suggestions I receive from my viewers, as they continually enhance my natural hair journey. If you want to see more videos like this, please subscribe to my channel.
