Introduction
Hey y'all! Welcome to this week's Whip Wednesday where I'll be sharing with you what I've been working on. It's been a productive week, so let's dive right in!
Working on the Positive Potato Pattern
First off, I've been working on a fun and quirky project – the Positive Potato. This adorable potato pattern is a freebie from Ravelry, and I thought it would make a perfect gift for my aunt. I'm using Sprout worsted yarn in the "Weathered" colorway, which coincidentally matches the sweater I'll be telling you about next.
Starting the Rebecca Ragin Worsted Crocheted Sweater
Inspired by the Weathered colorway, I decided to make myself a crocheted sweater. The pattern I chose is the Rebecca Ragin Worsted Crocheted Sweater by Tinderbox. I'm a big fan of their designs, and I couldn't resist giving this one a try. So far, I've only just started, but I'm hoping to make significant progress this weekend since I have some time off.
Using Tumble Leaf for October Projects
Next up, let's talk about the color of the month for October – Tumble Leaf. I absolutely love the vibrant mix of oranges, warm reds, mauves, and blues in this colorway. I've been experimenting with it in both knitting and crochet projects. Using sock weight yarn and a D hook, I've created some beautiful stitches, including single crochets, half doubles, and doubles.
Finishing the Ismo Cief Design
I'm thrilled to announce that I've completed my own design – the Ismo Cief. This unique piece showcases my love for three-color projects. I modified the pattern to incorporate three colors – Olivine, Sage, and Mero, all from the Sprout Seed line. The result is a soft and cozy accessory that will be perfect for the upcoming fall season. I'm planning to offer kits for the Ismo Cief at Saff, so keep an eye out for those if you're interested!
Beginning the Baby Blanket for November
Now, let's talk about one of my ventures into deadline knitting – a baby blanket that needs to be finished by the beginning of November. Despite my usual preference for more relaxed projects, I couldn't resist taking on this challenge. I've chosen to use Sprout Decay on Glimmer for this blanket. The pattern I'm following is the Baby Honey Blanket by Craftling Designs, which features a charming honeycomb motif. I'm planning to add my own twist to the design by creating a separate honeycomb section that will complement the overall blanket.
Attending Shinandoa Fiber Fest
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend Camp Stitch at the Shinandoa Fiber Fest. It was a fantastic experience, and I couldn't resist getting some goodies to remember the event. I picked up a stylish shirt that proudly displayed my love for yarns. Additionally, I treated myself to some beautiful stickers, including one with yarn-related puns and another celebrating sweater weather. It was a delightful way to commemorate an amazing fiber festival!
Exploring Silk and Maro Scarves from Miller Girls
At the event, I also visited the booth of Miller Girls, where I stumbled upon some exquisite silk and Maro scarves. These scarves are perfect for experimenting with dyeing techniques, which I'm excited to try. Each scarf comes with detailed information, eliminating the need for me to remember which scarf is which. With these wide and versatile scarves, I can't wait to work on my dyeing projects and see how the different silk blends absorb the colors.
Finding Unique Gifts at Fiber Expo
Another highlight of my fiber-filled week was attending the Fiber Expo in Ann Arbor. There, I stumbled upon the booth of the talented Miller Girls once again and picked up some unique gifts. While I can't reveal the details here (spoilers for the recipients), I was thrilled to find something special for my loved ones. The Fiber Expo was a treasure trove of inspiration, and I left feeling energized and excited to embark on new projects.
Conclusion
That wraps up what I've been working on this week. It's been a whirlwind of creative projects, festivals, and discoveries. I'm grateful for the opportunities to explore new patterns, experiment with different yarns, and connect with fellow fiber enthusiasts. As always, happy crafting, and stay tuned for more adventures in the world of yarn!
