Completing the Central Mandala

Welcome to Part Three of Revelation! In this section, we will be completing the central mandala and then moving on to building the corners. It is crucial that you pay attention to the stitch counts and follow the instructions carefully. Make sure you have downloaded the PDF and have your corners placed correctly.

Round 37: Joining with a Beginning V-Stitch

To start, join with a beginning V-stitch in any stitch. To create a beginning V-stitch, begin with a standing double crochet, chain one, and then double crochet in the same stitch. This V-stitch is similar to what we did at the beginning of Part One.

Next, skip two stitches and v-stitch in the next stitch. This means you will double crochet, chain one, and double crochet all in the same stitch. Repeat this process 131 times around, skipping two stitches and v-stitching in the next stitch. By the end, you should have a total of 132 V-stitches. Join to the beginning V-stitch, fasten off, and secure your ends.

Round 38: Joining with a Standing Single Crochet

Join with a standing single crochet in any V-stitch. Remember that when you work into a V-stitch, you are working into the chain one space and ignoring the double crochet part. Repeat five double crochets in the next V-stitch, followed by a single crochet in the next V-stitch. Repeat this process 66 times, omitting the last single crochet because you have already made it. Join to the standing single crochet, fasten off, and secure your ends.

Round 39: Joining with a Standing Single Crochet

Join with a standing single crochet in the third double crochet of any shell. Chain two, skip the next two stitches, and make a popcorn in the next stitch. To create a popcorn stitch, make five double crochet stitches in the same stitch and then remove your hook from the working loop. Insert your hook under the top two loops of the first double crochet, reinsert your hook into the working loop, pinch, and pull through. Chain one to close the popcorn. Chain two, skip the next two stitches, and single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat this process 66 times, omitting the last single crochet. Join to the standing single crochet with a slip stitch.

Round 40: Chain One and Make Two Single Crochet

Chain one and make two single crochets in the same stitch. Place a marker at the end of every repeat to help with counting. Follow the pattern of two single crochets in the next chain two space, front post around the popcorn stitch, two single crochets in the next chain two space, and single crochet in the next stitch. Repeat this process five times. Then, make two singles in the next chain two space, front post single around the next stitch, two singles in the next chain two space, and two singles in the next stitch. Repeat this process 11 times, ensuring that your increases are in every six single crochets. Join to the first single crochet, fasten off, and secure your ends.

Round 41: Joining with a Standing Double Crochet

Join with a standing double crochet in any stitch. Double crochet in the next six stitches, making a total of seven double crochets. Repeat the pattern of two double crochets in the next stitch and double crochet in the next 15 stitches. Repeat this process 25 times, resulting in a total of 432 double crochets. It is advisable to use markers to help with counting every 25 stitches. Join to the standing double crochet, fasten off, and secure your ends.

Round 42: Joining with a Standing Back Post Double Crochet

Join with a standing back post double crochet around both stitches of any increase. Make a second back post double crochet around the same two stitches, ensuring that the second one is below the first. Continue this pattern, making back post double crochets around two stitches and repeating the second back post below the first. By the end, you should have a total of 432 back post double crochets. Join to the standing back post double crochet, fasten off, and secure your ends.

Round 43: Joining with a Standing Single Crochet in the 20th Stitch Before Any Corner Marker

Join with a standing single crochet in the 20th stitch before any corner marker. Single crochet in the next six stitches, and then slip stitch, chain two, double crochet, chain two, and slip stitch in the same stitch. Single crochet in the next 12 stitches, slip stitch, chain three, treble, chain three, and slip stitch in the same stitch. Continue the pattern of single crochet, slip stitch, chain two, double crochet, chain two, slip stitch, and single crochet until you reach the next corner marker. Repeat this process for each of the four corners.

Now that you have completed the central mandala and built the corners, you are ready to move on to the next steps in the pattern. Make sure to follow the instructions closely and keep track of your stitch counts to ensure the best results. Happy crocheting!
