Introduction

Welcome back to Llama Mama, Kayla's Yarn Tube! In today's video, I'm going to be sharing my day with you and showing you a cowl I recently finished crocheting. So grab your crochet hooks and let's get started!

Unexpected Work on the Weekend

It turns out that my husband, whom I affectionately call "Big Daddy," had to work this weekend. It came as a surprise to both of us because he didn't receive a fax at his office that mentioned the pending deadline. However, he got an email yesterday notifying him that a crucial paperwork needed to be submitted by the 17th, which he missed due to the lack of communication. Luckily, they extended the deadline until Monday, the 22nd. To avoid a hefty fine of fifty thousand dollars, he has been working tirelessly this weekend to complete the paperwork.

Chilling at Home Alone

With Big Daddy at work and my son Elijah also on his shift, I found myself at home with our pets - Phoebe, Ginger, and Django. Despite being alone, I decided to make the most of my day. I curled up on the couch, snuggled in a warm blanket, and turned on a show that I accidentally got hooked on - "Return to Amish." I find myself so engrossed in the lives of these individuals that I can't help but binge-watch season after season.

Watching a Show I Got Sucked Into

"Return to Amish" captivates me with its intriguing storyline and fascinating characters. Since I started watching from season one, I've now made my way to season four. Each episode leaves me eager to find out what happens next to these captivating people. I'm curious to see how their lives unfold and what challenges they face along the way.

Enjoying Some Iced Coffee

To accompany my day of relaxation, I'm sipping on a refreshing cup of iced coffee. The flavor I chose today is sweet and salty caramel, which has quickly become one of my favorites. The combination of the rich caramel flavor with a hint of saltiness creates a unique and satisfying taste. It's the perfect drink to cool down during this warm summer day.

Finished Crocheting a Cowl

Now, let's talk about the cowl I recently finished crocheting. I'm extremely proud of how it turned out, and I can't wait to show it to you all. This cowl was made using a pattern by Bago Day Crochet. The link to the pattern will be provided in the description box below, in case you want to make a similar cowl for someone special.

Choosing the Perfect Yarn for the Cowl

When I first came across this pattern last spring, I immediately thought of making it for my son Dakota. At that time, he would walk to work every day, and I wanted to ensure he stayed warm during those chilly mornings. I chose a carrying cake yarn called "Pistachio Fudge" because I loved the shades of green and brown in it. I bought this yarn from Walmart a while back at a great price of $3.97. It's amazing how a simple skein of yarn can bring a project to life.

Crocheting for Next Year's Winter

Since I discovered the pattern during the wrong season, I decided to set it aside and save it for next winter. Dakota has since moved, and he no longer walks to work. Nonetheless, I believe this cowl will still come in handy during those short bursts of cold weather we experience in Louisiana. It may not be a daily accessory for him, but it will provide warmth and comfort during those chilly days.

Planning for a Fair Entry

As a crocheter, I always look for opportunities to showcase my creations. When I discovered that there was a category for crocheted cowls in our local fair, I knew I had to enter my finished piece. It's a fantastic opportunity to share my passion for crochet with others and gain recognition for my hard work. I'm excited to participate and see what other talented individuals contribute to the event.

Exploring Different Crochet Patterns

In addition to the cowl entry, I'm currently working on another crochet project that I plan to enter into the fair as well. It has been keeping me busy, but I'm determined to finish it on time. Crocheting is not just a hobby for me; it's a way to express my creativity and bring joy to others. I'm always on the lookout for new patterns and techniques to enhance my skills and challenge myself further.

Now that you're caught up on my day and my recent crochet projects, I'm going to continue my relaxation time. I'll be crocheting, watching "Return to Amish," and maybe even taking a nap. I hope you all have a fantastic day filled with creativity and joy. Until next time, happy crocheting, my friends!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I find the pattern for the cowl you made? A: The pattern I used for the cowl can be found on Bago Day Crochet's website or YouTube channel. I highly recommend checking out her content as she explains patterns in a simple and easy-to-understand manner.

Q: Can I modify the cowl pattern to make it larger or smaller? A: Absolutely! Crochet patterns are versatile, and you can adjust them to suit your preferences. If you want a larger cowl, try using a larger hook or adding more stitches. To make it smaller, use a smaller hook or decrease the number of stitches in the pattern.

Q: What other crochet projects are you currently working on? A: Besides the cowl, I'm also working on another crochet project that I plan to enter into the fair. I'm keeping it a surprise for now, but stay tuned for a future video where I'll reveal it!

Q: How do you find time for crocheting with your busy schedule? A: Crocheting is my way of unwinding and relaxing. Even with a busy schedule, I make it a point to set aside some time each day for my creative hobbies. Whether it's early in the morning or late at night, I find that indulging in crocheting helps me recharge and stay inspired.
