Introduction

Welcome to this crochet tutorial where we will learn how to make a beautiful angel ornament for your Christmas tree or as a decoration for gifts. This step-by-step guide will take you through the process of crocheting an angel using basic techniques and easily accessible materials. Let's get started!

Materials Needed

To crochet this angel, you will need the following materials:

  1. T-shirt yarn (any size)
  2. Crochet hook (5.7mm or any size)
  3. Needle with a big eye
  4. Scissors

Starting the Angel

Let's begin by making the magic ring, which will serve as the base of our angel. Leave a tip of approximately 40-50 centimeters and follow the detailed instructions provided in my video tutorial, which covers basic crochet techniques. You can find the link to that video in the corner so you can learn how to make the magic ring before continuing with this tutorial.

Making the Magic Ring

Once you have mastered the magic ring technique, we will proceed to make 10 single crochet stitches into the magic ring. Insert your crochet hook into the ring, hook the working yarn, take a loop, and push it through both loops on the hook. Repeat this process to make a total of 10 single crochet stitches in the magic ring.

Crocheting the First Wing

To start crocheting the first wing of our angel, make 3 chain stitches and turn your crochet. Now, make one treble crochet into the same stitch where you made the 3 chain stitches. To make a treble crochet, yarn over twice, insert the hook into the designated stitch, hook the working yarn, take a loop, and repeat the process until you have completed the treble crochet stitch.

Crocheting the Second Wing

After completing the first wing, we will repeat the same steps to crochet the second wing. Make 3 chain stitches, turn your crochet, and make one treble crochet into the same stitch where you made the chain stitches. This will be the base of the second wing.

Joining the Wings

Once both wings are complete, we need to join them by making a slip stitch. Make 3 chain stitches, turn your crochet, and make 4 double crochet stitches from one wing to the next. Follow the instructions provided to complete the joining process.

Adding the Hair

To give our angel a finished look, we will add hair using the remaining yarn. Push the yarn under the stitches on the back side of the angel, hiding the tip securely. Use a needle with a big eye to guide the yarn under the stitches, creating a loop at the top of the head.

Finishing Touches

Hide any remaining yarn by looping it under the stitches, securing it in place. Cut off any excess yarn and iron the angel to shape it properly. Remember to use a cloth or material between the iron and the angel to avoid damaging the yarn.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have successfully completed crocheting your own angel ornament. This beautiful creation can be used to decorate your Christmas tree or as a thoughtful gift for a loved one. Enjoy the process of crocheting and embrace the joy of the holiday season.
