The Nightmare Before Christmas Zero Tutorial

Are you a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas? In this tutorial, I'm going to teach you how to create your very own Zero, the ghost dog from the movie. This adorable project can be made from scratch using simple materials. So, let's gather our materials and get started!

Materials Needed

To make your own Zero, you will need the following materials:

  • Red and white yarn
  • A small amount of orange yarn for the nose
  • Two 10mm safety eyes
  • Stuffing
  • Blush or pink paint (optional)
  • Keychain ring (optional)

You will also need a 3mm yarn and hook for this project. Now that we have all our materials ready, let's begin with making the head.

Making the Head

  1. Start by creating a magic ring of 6 stitches.
  2. Close the ring with a slip stitch and make a chain to raise the fabric.
  3. In the first stitch, make a single crochet and mark it as the starting point.
  4. Increase in each stitch to have 12 stitches.
  5. Continue with one stitch and an increase, repeating six times to have 18 stitches.
  6. Repeat the pattern with two stitches and an increase, then three stitches and an increase, totaling 30 stitches.
  7. Make 7 rounds of 30 single crochets.
  8. Continue with 18 single crochets and make 6 decreases.
  9. Repeat the pattern with 12 single crochets and 6 decreases.
  10. Continue with 12 single crochets and make three decreases, resulting in 15 stitches.
  11. Make a round of 15 single crochets and fill the head.
  12. Continue with three stitches and a decrease, repeating three times to have 12 stitches.
  13. Make two rounds of 12 single crochets.
  14. Continue with four stitches and a decrease, repeating twice to have 10 stitches.

  16. Continue with three stitches and a decrease, repeating twice to have 8 stitches.
  17. Make a round of 8 single crochets and finish filling.
  18. Make two single crochets and a decrease, repeating twice to have six stitches.
  19. Complete with a round of 6 single crochets, cut the thread, and close. Your head is now complete!
