Part 1: Making the I Motif
In this video tutorial, we will be making a beautiful bookmark using crochet. If you haven't watched the first part of this pattern, make sure to check it out before proceeding with this one. In the previous video, we covered the pattern for the letter "I." Now, let's continue with the pattern for the heart motif.
Materials Needed
Before we dive into the pattern, let's quickly go over the materials you will need to make this bookmark. You will need yarn in two different colors: light pink and red. Additionally, you will require a crochet hook and a pair of scissors. Make sure you have all these materials ready before starting.
Part 1: Making the I Motif
Let's start by completing the rows 1-15 from the previous video. If you have already completed these rows, you can proceed to the next step. After finishing row 15, we need to create a gap between the letters. Rows 16 and 17 will consist of single crochets in every stitch using the light pink color. You will make 16 single crochets on each of these two rows. You don't need to carry over the red yarn for these rows; simply leave it where it is.
Part 2: Making the Heart Motif
Now, let's move on to the heart motif. Before we begin, keep in mind that we will be creating the other half of the heart by following the reverse order of rows 18-23.
For row 18, start with eight single crochets in the pink color. After two or three single crochets, carry over the red color as we will need it later in the row. Make eight single crochets in total.
In row 19, chain one and turn your work. Repeat the same color pattern as row 18 but in reverse order. Start with four single crochets in pink, then switch to red for two single crochets, and finally, complete the row with eight single crochets in pink.
Continue working on rows 20-23 by following the color patterns of the previous rows. In row 20, start with six single crochets in light pink, then switch to red for two single crochets, and carry over the pink color. Make four single crochets in pink, switch to red for two single crochets, and end the row with two single crochets in light pink.
For row 21, repeat the color pattern of row 20 in reverse order. Make two single crochets in pink, switch to red for two single crochets, drop the red yarn, and complete the row with six single crochets in pink.
Follow the same pattern for rows 22 and 23, alternating the colors as specified and completing the required number of single crochets for each color.
Conclusion
By completing the rows for the heart motif, you have finished 70% of your bookmark, including the "I" and heart motifs. In the next part, which will be uploaded soon, we will go over the pattern for the letter "U" and learn how to finish this beautiful bookmark.
