Introduction
Welcome to Craft & Crochet! In this video, I will show you how to make a beautiful and easy wind spinner using yarn. This project is perfect for beginners and only requires a few materials. Follow along step by step to create your own stunning wind spinner.
Materials Needed
Before we get started, make sure you have the following materials:
- Yarn (in three different colors)
- Crochet hook (size 4mm)
- Scissors
- Needle
Step 1: Creating the Slip Knot and Chain
To begin, make a slip knot and create a chain. For a standard-sized wind spinner, we will need 100 chains. Adjust the length of the chain based on your desired size. Once you have the desired number of chains, cut the yarn and secure it.
Step 2: Starting the First Row
Now it's time to start the first row. Using the blue yarn, join it to the first chain and create a chain of three. The three chains will count as the first double crochet.
Step 3: Continuing the First Row
In this step, we will continue working on the first row. Make two double crochets into the next chain. Repeat this pattern of two double crochets in each chain across the row. By the end of this step, you should have a total of 200 double crochets.
Step 4: Completing the First Row
Keep following the pattern of two double crochets in each chain until you reach the end of the first row. Cut the yarn and tie it securely.
Step 5: Starting the Second Row
Moving on to the second row, join the light yellow yarn to the first double crochet. Create a chain of three, which will count as the first double crochet.
Step 6: Continuing the Second Row
Follow the same pattern as before, making three double crochets in each double crochet across the row. Repeat this pattern until the end of the second row. By the end, you should have a total of 600 double crochets.
Step 7: Completing the Second Row
Finish the second row by cutting the yarn and tying it securely.
Step 8: Starting the Third Row
For the third and final row, join the dark yellow yarn to the first double crochet. Create a chain of one and make a backward single crochet into the same double crochet.
Step 9: Continuing and Finishing the Third Row
Continue making a backward single crochet into each double crochet across the row until you reach the last stitch. Finish the third row by starting with the last stitch of the second row and ending with the first stitch of the second row.
Hiding the Yarn Tails and Adjusting the Spinner
Once the third row is complete, I will show you how to hide the yarn tails for a clean finish. Then, I will demonstrate how to adjust the spinner to create the desired shape.
Adding a Pom-pom to the Spinner
To add a finishing touch to the wind spinner, I will show you how to make a pom-pom using two different colored yarns. You can also choose to use beads to enhance the spinner's appearance.
Finishing Touches
Now that the wind spinner is complete, take a moment to admire your beautiful creation. Don't forget to share your finished spinner with me in our Facebook group. I will provide a link in the description below.
