Introduction

Making the Hippo Face
To start, we will make the face of the hippo. First, crochet a grey color circle using a 4 millimeter crochet hook. Then, crochet a white color square. Follow the instructions provided in the link in the description for the square.
Adding the Ears
Skip three stitches and start with the fourth and fifth stitches. Join the yarn with a slip knot and make three chains. Crochet one double crochet in the same space, followed by four double crochets. This will create the ears of the hippo.
Making the Hippo Nose
Using a 2.5 millimeter crochet hook, create a magic ring and make three chains. Crochet three double crochets in the magic ring. Then, make three half double crochets, seven double crochets, and again three half double crochets. Join with the third chain to complete the shape of the nose.
Adding the Nose to the Face
Attach the nose to the hippo face using the same color yarn. Make sure it is properly visible within the face.
Adding the Eyes
Using a 2.5 millimeter crochet hook, create eight single crochets for each eye using white color yarn. Then, using a small needle, add black color yarn to create the eyes. Add small black dots in the middle and create little eyebrows using two stitches.
Making the Snail Body
For the snail body, create a dark pink and light blue circle. Use a grey color for the square. Follow the instructions in the link for the square.
Adding the Snail Head
Using a 2.5 millimeter crochet hook, create a magic ring and crochet twelve double crochets in the ring. Join with the third chain to complete the head.
Adding the Eyes and Eyebrows
Using white color yarn, create two stitches for the eyes. Add a small black dot in the middle for each eye. Create little eyebrows using black color yarn. Attach the head to the snail body using a small needle.
